Web designer wanted

I need a web designer to implement an e-commerce web site for me. The website itself will be relatively straight forward. The 'value add' is that the user needs to fill out a questionnaire and is then e-mailed a customised PDF with a mail merged document (Currently Word, but it doesn't have to be). The customer will be charged for the service, so the site needs to be e-commerce enabled.

A web designer in the UK would be preferred. Please note I will require two references from other work you have completed. Contact me through this blog if you are interested and for further details.

Standing on the Toes of Giants: Social Movement Theory and the Case of the Learning Organisation

On Thursday 10th November, 2011 I will be giving a talk entitled "Standing on the Toes of Giants: Social Movement Theory and the Case of the Learning Organisation". There has been relatively little work done on the learning organisation, moreover the term has become a meaningless piece of rhetoric in a HR Manager's repertoire of jargon.

This research explodes some of the myths about the learning organisation, and demonstrates a new way forward for executives and scholars alike.

The presentation will take place at YJ0.07 at Bradford University School of Management.

AMBA Dinner at the Royal Garden Hotel

Yesterday I attended the AMBA Dinner at the Royal Garden Hotel, Kensington with Dr Roger Beach, the Associate Dean for Postgraduate Studies at Bradford University School of Management.

This was attended by Directors, Deans and Associate Deans of business schools. Lord Karan Bilimoria was the principal speaker and he gave an inspirational speech of his experience of launching Cobra beer and the current challenges in Higher Education.

Project Management in BIS

This morning's lecture will be on Project Management in Business Information Systems. The tutorial will be about hardware and network design, based on my experiences of working for the Dublin Fire and Ambulance Service. Eeeeee, those were the days :-)

The next killer app?

I was returning home from a training course in Manchester last Tuesday when I happened across a MBA participant who had taken the MBA in Engineering Management at Bradford University School of Management. For once the boot was on the other foot, he couldn't remember my name but I could remember his..... the problems of a one-to-many relationship that a lecturer has.

It struck me later that if Google+ and Google Maps were mashed up with GPS then I could get my iPhone to alert me to the fact that someone I knew was nearby. Of course the privacy settings would have to be carefully thought (one could have an 'avoid' setting!) but rather than the pull technology we have at the moment into a push technology. Perhaps such meetings could be less serendipitous and we could connect with people we hadn't seen for a considerable amount of times. It could even help us remember names........
